Cucurbit (pronounced as 'hooloo' in Chinese) is a plant of gourd. Being picked off and processed in specific method, it only leaves the crust. It is often for sale with carving or painting on its shell. 

Cucurbit commands the sectors of medicine, prediction and astrology. For persons are in the occupations related to medicine, astrology and fortunetelling, it would be favourable for their undertakings if they put up cucurbit at home.

Mr. Wong came into a partnership with his friends to open a restaurant. He is a minor shareholder of the business. It runs quite well upon opening up.

It won't be damaged even if crashed or fallen onto the floor. The metal cucurbit is especially powerful, moreover, most of them are made to be flat at the bottom so that it can be placed easily and even taken as a vase.'

The next day Mr. Wong bought a copper-made cucurbit and invited the write to put it up on a well-chosen lucky day.

When the Chinese lunar new year arrived, that is about half a year later, the couple come to visit. Ms. Wong said with a delighted look, 'Since putting the cucurbit by my seat, I have entirely pulled through from those pains and troubles because of the sickness. I am not required to see my doctor so frequently as before. I just feel so great!'

You might be wondering, if the cash register was put in the ominous sector, then why not move it to an auspicious place?

For in most cases, before the restaurant starts the operation, the plan sheet should be submit to the government for registration. When it is approved, the layout needs to follow the original plan. If there is any change to be made later, it is required to have an updated plan. Only with the approval from the government, can it be done actually. Therefore, to move the cash register might be quite a bother. Instead, using a Feng Shui enhancer is that easy and can be even more effective. 

Cucurbit is characteristic with its shape of being thin in the mouth and plump in the body. Accordingly it holds the meaning of 'Easy in and hard out'. It is said to be the most effective in absorbing Sha Qi (malignant energy) because Qi can flow into it from the mouth but difficult to pour out. In ancient Chinese fairy tales, cucurbit is used as a magic weapon to draw in evil spirits and various devils. This is why people often take it as a talisman.
